About the Role
MARI is seeking a Senior Counsel, Privacy, Compliance & Risk to build and operate our global privacy, compliance, and enterprise risk programs across our live events and ticketing businesses in the United States, EMEA, and APAC.

This is a hands-on role for an attorney who enjoys creating structure from the ground up and partnering cross-functionally to embed practical risk management processes into day-to-day operations. The role reports directly to the General Counsel and serves as an operational risk partner to Legal, Finance, HR, and business leadership in a fast-growing, dynamic environment.


Note: We are open to candidates based anywhere in the US and are not limited to New York.


The base salary range for this role is $200,000 - $210,000. This role is bonus eligible; the on target earning range is $230,000 - $240,000. 
Salary is determined by market data, experience, location, and internal banding. Ranges will be discussed transparently during the interview process. 

What You'll Own:

Privacy & Data Governance

  • Lead compliance with GDPR, UK GDPR, and U.S. state privacy laws.
  • Oversee data governance across owned ticketing platforms and internal customer databases.
  • Support cross-company data sharing initiatives and international data transfers.
  • Maintain data processing frameworks, DPAs, and vendor data standards.
  • Triage privacy incidents and monitor regulatory developments across all operating regions.

Enterprise Compliance

  • Design and implement a scalable global compliance framework, including:
  • Code of Conduct
  • Anti-bribery and corruption controls
  • Sanctions compliance (including higher-risk jurisdictions)
  • Competition compliance guidance
  • Develop and manage compliance training programs.
  • Establish policy governance and compliance reporting processes.
  • Serve as first-line triage for compliance matters and escalate material issues.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized risk tracker for third party and operational risks exposure.

Vendor & Customer Compliance Diligence

  • Develop risk-based diligence processes for vendors, customers, and other counterparties.
  • Conduct sanctions screening, anti-bribery risk assessments, and reputational reviews.
  • Establish escalation protocols for higher-risk engagements.
  • Integrate compliance checks into onboarding and contracting workflows.

Insurance & Enterprise Risk

  • Partner with Finance to formalize corporate insurance governance processes.
  • Work with brokers and insurers on renewals and risk assessments.
  • Establish internal insurance standards for counterparties and oversee certificate tracking.
  • Support claims coordination and risk transfer strategies across events and operations.

Investigations & Reporting

  • Triage internal compliance concerns and oversee preliminary fact development.
  • Coordinate investigations with Legal and HR as appropriate.
  • Support the General Counsel in preparing compliance and risk updates for executive leadership.


What You Bring:
  • 8–10 years of legal experience, with meaningful in-house experience preferred.
  • Experience building or expanding privacy and/or compliance programs.
  • Strong working knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR, and U.S. state privacy laws.
  • Experience with anti-bribery, sanctions, competition compliance, and diligence frameworks.
  • Familiarity with insurance governance or enterprise risk management is a plus.
  • Practical, systems-oriented mindset and ability to operate independently in a growing organization.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CCEP, or CAMS are a plus.
  • Live events, media, or technology experience is helpful but not required.
