- The Regional Privacy Officer, APAC is responsible for the management of the data protection and privacy function across all businesses and segments in the region to ensure:
- Enable proactive and efficient management of privacy risks across the APAC region.
- Promote a consistent approach to privacy risk and behaviours in collaboration with the Global Privacy Office and Privacy Officers across RBC entities and local Compliance.
- Identify and implement efficiencies in privacy risk management, in particular balancing country or business specific requirements with the global Privacy Risk Management program.
- Oversight and implementation of RBC global and local Privacy Policies and Standards.
- Provide guidance, challenge and oversight to the RBC APAC businesses to ensure privacy best practice.
- Drive the privacy aspects of the RCM program for the RBC APAC businesses.
- Provide quarterly reporting information and escalation of key privacy issues.
- Central point of contact for privacy projects that cover multiple businesses or jurisdictions.
- Oversee information in the PRM Governance tools such as Processing Activity Risk Assessment (PARA) and the incident reporting system for quality and completeness for regional legal entities.
- Oversight of privacy incidents and breaches, including coordinating with local Compliance Officers where regulator or client notification is required.
- Engage in and support projects on local privacy matters as required.
- Program Support:
- Support the program in demonstrably meeting the highest principles of significant international legislative and regulatory developments.
- Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place to govern local requirements.
- Ensure privacy risk is documented and managed globally in accordance with the Regulatory Compliance Management framework.
- Ensure adequate and appropriate accountability is demonstrably anchored in the first line businesses and functions.
- Complete enterprise self-assessments on privacy risk, and design and facilitate business and function privacy risk assessments.
- Provide strategic input on program, structure, tool and process enhancements.
