Job Purpose: The VP/SVP, AI Governance Lead will be a pivotal role within the Unit Data Office, responsible for establishing, implementing, and overseeing the Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance framework specifically for Group Operations. This role will ensure that all AI/Machine Learning (ML) initiatives and models within Group Operations adhere to the bank's enterprise-wide AI Governance requirements, Responsible Data Use (RDU) policies, and relevant regulatory standards. The successful candidate will drive consistency, accountability, and best practices in AI governance across Group Operations, balancing innovation with robust risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AI Governance Framework Implementation & Oversight:

  • Lead the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of the AI Governance framework within Group Operations, aligning with the bank's enterprise AI Governance requirements and the Responsible Data Use (RDU) policies.

  • Design the Group Operations AI Governance Operating model and processes.

  • Ensure all AI use cases and models within Group Operations, including those utilizing Generative AI (GenAI) and third-party models, are in scope and adhere to AI Governance requirements, including baseline and enhanced governance where applicable.

  • Drive the operationalization of the Group Operations RDU Governance model through senior level forums and engagement

    • Manage the AI use case/model review, approval, and retrofit processes.

    • Drive adherence to the PURE framework for data use cases within Group Operations, ensuring data is Purposeful, Unsurprising, Respectful, and Explainable.

    • Collaborate closely with Use Case Owners, Model Owners, Lead Model Developers, and other relevant stakeholders across Group Operations to embed AI governance best practices.

    • Manage the Ops RDU Committee and engage with the Group RDU Committee and other senior level forums. Report on the status of AI governance within Group Operations to senior management and relevant committees.

    • Conduct Ops COO & CRESA Cadence meetings.

    • Provide guidance and support to ensure relevant staff complete necessary AI governance and PURE practitioner training, and develop knowledge base (KB).

  • Design and Implement Centralised AI process:

    • Establish and oversee the Centralised Prompt Management Process for Group Operations with the new platform

    • Develop Group Ops AI related new process and governance framework

  • Data Enablement for Decision Making and AI:

    • Data Instrument for Key Projects to enable Group Operations with data insights and AI capabilities, especially in operation productivity management and risk management area

    • Manage Data Infrastructure Standardization for Across-Function Initiatives in group Operations

    • Drive AI Exploration for Resiliency in Group Ops through key products in collaboration with Data Chapter and other Ops Units

Role Requirements:

Technical / Functional Skills:

  • Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in data governance, AI governance, risk management, or a related field within the financial services industry.

  • Proven track record in implementing and managing governance frameworks for AI solutions.

  • Strong understanding of AI technologies, including Generative AI, Agentic AI and their associated risks and opportunities.

  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices for AI governance (e.g., MAS FEAT principles).

  • Deep functional expertise of data governance and management best practices (frameworks, capabilities, methodologies, policies, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of data lifecycle/value chains and how they correlate to business processes and systems

  • Skilled in assessing data-related risks and controls

  • Experience with DBS data architecture and process is plus

  • Minimum academic qualification: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, Law, Risk Management).
