Job Title: SVP/ Chief Compliance Officer

Reports to: Chairman of the Board, China FMC (Michael Thompson)

Location: Shanghai, China

Who You’ll Work With: The Chief Compliance Officer is a senior management role responsible for overseeing the legal and compliance status of the fund and the company's operations, as well as the company's internal risk control, and reports directly to the Board of Directors.

What You’ll Do:

The incumbent must proactively provide advice on regulatory matters and work closely with management and business departments. High visibility within the business is critical to ensuring a positive compliance culture and risk awareness. The functions described above are required to be performed accurately and professionally at all times, in accordance with regulatory standards and written procedures.

The incumbent shall faithfully and diligently perform all duties stipulated by laws, regulations, and the company's articles of association, including but not limited to:

  • Deliver efficient and best-practice compliance and risk policies, procedures and standards. This includes our global Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, client onboarding (Anti-Money Laundering / Counter-Financing of Terrorism) and staff conflict of interest management matters, among others.
  • Engage with the business to promote a culture of risk awareness and compliance. The CCO shall provide management and staff with accurate and commercially practical advisory services and guidance on regulatory matters. The CCO must be knowledgeable in all relevant regulations, standards, guidance notes and policy statements to ensure that business operations are compliant.
  • Report the compliance status of the company's operations and management to the Board of Directors and the General Manager in accordance with regulatory requirements and the company's articles of association.
  • Maintain close cooperation with relevant regulatory authorities, including the China Securities Regulatory Commission. This includes timely delivery and completion of supervisory requirements, and proactive participation in industry initiatives organized by regulatory and administrative institutions.
  • Liaise with peers and industry groups to facilitate a better understanding of global practices in the local market and to promote a positive regulatory environment.
  • Oversee the compliance, legal and risk management functions. Build a strong team of compliance, legal and risk management professionals with strong technical capabilities and sound commercial acumen.
  • Responsible for appraising compliance officers and first-line compliance officers.
  • Perform other duties as stipulated by applicable Chinese laws and the company's articles of association.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or above in law, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Professional Qualifications: Possess the fund qualification and CCO qualification recognized by the Asset Management Association of China.
  • Work Experience: Meet the qualifications for the Chief Compliance Officer position as stipulated by relevant laws and regulations, including but not limited to requirements regarding years of practice, professional experience, compliance management experience, and integrity record.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and rules; familiarity with securities and fund businesses; possess the professional knowledge and skills necessary for compliance management.
  • Good Judgement: Exercise due professional care and sensitivity to timely identify and focus on issues, risks, and potential hazards in the operation of the fund and the company.
  • Communication and Coordination: Strong communication and coordination skills, capable of efficient and professional interaction with the Board of Directors, management, and regulatory authorities. Possess strong team spirit, able to establish constructive working relationships with all departments. Uphold compliance principles while effectively supporting business development, achieving a positive interaction between compliance and business operations.
  • Leadership and Team Management Skills: Demonstrated leadership capability to guide the team effectively and drive the establishment and implementation of a compliance culture within the organization.
  • Professional Ethics: Adhere to principles, demonstrate professional integrity, diligence, and dedication. Strictly comply with confidentiality requirements.
