Eightfold is a global leader in an AI-native enterprise talent platform, trusted by the world’s largest & most respected Fortune 500 organizations. Our platform is built from the ground up, operating at scale across Azure and AWS, deployed in multiple regions globally, including IL4-compliant environments for the US Government, supporting users in 100+ countries and 30+ languages. Today, Eightfold is at the forefront of agentic AI, delivering intelligent agents that actively drive outcomes across hiring and talent workflows, while much of the industry is still experimenting with prototypes. Backed by over $410M in funding and valued at $2B+, we are defining the next era of agentic talent systems.

What sets Eightfold apart is not just the technology & our mission, but the team behind it. We are a deeply technical, execution-driven organization that values ownership, collaboration, and high standards. Our engineers, product leaders, and go-to-market teams work closely together — in person and across functions — to build systems that scale in the real world. If you’re excited to work on hard problems, move with urgency, raise the bar every day, and help build agentic systems that transform how the world works, Eightfold is the place to do it.

Responsibilities
  • Expert Advisory: Serve as legal point of contact for product and engineering teams, providing expert-level guidance on the EU AI Act, CO AI Act, GDPR, CCPA, NIST, and other regulations and frameworks.
  • Product Lifecycle Integration: Provide legal guidance for new products and features on issues related to privacy and AI throughout the product development lifecycle, including "Privacy-by-Design" and "AI-Ethics-by-Design" initiatives. You will not just oversee policy development, but deeply integrate with the development sprint cycles to review features, data usage, and model training protocols.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Tackle ambiguous legal challenges where precedent may not yet exist, such as automated decision making technology considerations, bias mitigation in algorithms, and cross-border data transfer impact assessments.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to cross-functional workstreams to develop and implement internal, scalable processes and policies for responsible AI.
  • Advanced Negotiations: Handle complex, high-value data processing agreements (DPAs) and AI-specific addendums, serving as the escalation point for the commercial legal team on privacy and AI hurdles.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Independently monitor and interpret global regulatory shifts, translating "legalese" into actionable technical requirements for the business.
  • Privacy Operations: Support DPIAs, data mapping, vendor assessments, data subject requests, and data governance improvements.
  • Training: Develop internal playbooks and training to raise awareness and knowledge of privacy and AI considerations.

Qualifications
  • Education: JD Degree and Active State Bar Membership; CIPP/CIPM certifications a plus.
  • Experience: Generally requires 8–12 years of relevant legal experience, ideally in B2B SaaS, with a significant emphasis on product counseling and US and EU privacy and AI law.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Proven track record in Product Counseling, specifically within SaaS, AI, or high-growth tech environments.
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to "speak engineer"—understanding how APIs, MCPs, LLMs, and data pipelines function is critical to providing relevant legal advice.
  • Operational Excellence: Experience creating streamlined, scalable legal processes (e.g., automated privacy impact assessments) to support a high-velocity engineering organization.
  • Communication: Ability to distill complex regulatory concepts into pragmatic, business-minded guidance for executive stakeholders.
