The Senior Information Security Engineer supports the InfoSec mission of securing the patient experience. This position applies existing experience in engineering of information security applications and systems to ensure compliance with Children's National Hospital IT standards. Individuals in this position will be responsible for configuration, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting of such systems in order to validate performance and functional requirements.


 

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in a computer science, math, engineering, or another relevant discipline or equivalent training and work experience (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
5 years 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity with a focus on engineering and implementation of cybersecurity controls, systems, and applications (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Limited experience in the application of key cybersecurity practices, controls, and frameworks
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; interpersonal and collaborative skills; and the ability to communicate information risk-related concepts to technical as well as nontechnical audiences
Some experience in the implementation of Cybersecurity applications and systems including network devices, firewalls, asset management tools, access management systems, and active directory
Some experience participating in the application of systems engineering principles including requirements definition, system design, test planning and documentation, integration, and functional and operational testing
Limited experience with engineering practices related to performing opertional tradeoffs in performance, functionality, cost, and efficiency
Some experience in performing test measurement and analysis of cybersecurity and IT systems

Functional Accountabilities
Cybersecurity Engineering
  • Initiates and executes tasks involving the identification of cybersecurity system performance
  • Initiate and shapes tasking involving the operation, monitoring, and analysis of cybersecurity applications and systems
  • Coordinates actions involving the testing and deployment of cybersecurity systems including firewalls, network analysis tools, access management systems, and vulnerability management applications
  • Coordinates actions necessary to recover from system failures
  • Identifies key reporting metrics associated with cybersecurity systems.


 

The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children’s National believes an individual’s base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children’s National compensation philosophy. These factors are legitimate and non-discriminatory including, but not limited to, the current market conditions; organizational needs; the individual’s combination of prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications. Children’s National is committed to providing a fair and competitive total rewards package to each of our employees. This base salary range does not include our comprehensive benefits package or any additional compensation for which this position may be eligible.
