Responsibilities:

Privacy matters to our customers, our employees, our business and our brand.  Air Canada operates around the globe and is subject to a wide variety of privacy and related laws, including data protection and anti-spam laws.  To help meet the growing complexities and challenges, we are seeking an innovative, passionate, execution and customer-oriented Privacy Manager to join our Privacy Compliance team in Montreal.

Reporting to the Director, Privacy Compliance, the Specialist, Privacy Compliance will be an integral member of a growing team committed to the design and implementation of Air Canada’s next-generation privacy governance program. The responsibilities will include:

• Designing and implementing privacy trust-enabling processes and continuous improvements
• Updating and maintaining privacy policies and procedures, including processes and tools, to enable and monitor compliance and alignment with corporate values and objectives
• Supporting, enabling and improving the corporate privacy breach response plan
• Developing and maintaining privacy impact assessment (PIA) tools, conducting PIAs, and training internal partners
• Designing KPIs and other monitoring solutions, and preparing reports
• Developing and delivering a training program including training scheduling and communications
• Designing and overseeing processes for managing privacy complaints & access / correction / transfer / deletion requests
• Conducting investigations into privacy complaints
• Overseeing the design and maintenance of all records of processing activities
• Working closely with various branches including Legal, IT, Customer Experience, People, Culture and Communications, Loyalty, E-commerce, and Sales, to help enable the company to achieve its objectives, including operational, sales and data-driven objectives including the use of artificial intelligence.

• Minimum of 3 and up to 10 years of experience in a privacy, compliance or operational risk management
• Hold a university degree in law or bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification, preferred
• Privacy accreditation, an asset  
• Knowledge and experience with PIPEDA, and global privacy laws including the GDPR, an asset
• Project management experience and familiarity with information technology systems and tools an asset
• Experience conducting investigations, an asset
• Excellent oral and written communication including presentation skills
• Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
• Ability to deal with conflicting points of view and develop solutions
• Inclination to take initiative and be proactive and resourceful
• Have a practical and business-oriented approach
• Facility in managing shifting priorities
• Ability to work within tight timelines
• Detail oriented
• Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.

Conditions of Employment:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country of interest at the time any offer of employment is made and are responsible for obtaining any required work permits, visas, or other authorizations necessary for employment.
