Manager

What's the role?

As Senior Manager, Privacy & Records Compliance, you'll play a key role in shaping how Westpac manages privacy and records risk in an increasingly data-driven environment. As customer, employee, community and regulatory expectations continue to evolve, you'll help design and scale the frameworks, systems and processes that enable effective privacy and records risk management across the Group.

A key focus of the role is supporting the evolution of Westpac's privacy and records risk advisory capability, helping drive towards a more scalable and AI enabled approach that can support a significantly larger volume of business initiatives.

You'll work closely with project teams, business stakeholders and partners across Legal, Cyber, Data and Division Risk to ensure initiatives involving personal information receive the right level of review, guidance and oversight before they proceed.

You'll also help simplify and embed Westpac’s Privacy and Records policies, standards, guidance and governance frameworks that support better decision-making across the business. This includes assessing regulatory changes, supporting risk and compliance activities, and helping ensure privacy controls remain practical, effective and fit for purpose as the organisation continues to evolve.

What do I need?

We're looking for someone who brings a blend of privacy expertise, risk and governance experience, and the ability to build practical, scalable solutions.

You'll be comfortable operating in a complex environment, translating regulatory obligations into actionable business outcomes and helping shape frameworks, processes and ways of working that can evolve alongside changing business and regulatory expectations.

Equally important is your ability to engage, influence and provide trusted advice to a diverse range of stakeholders while balancing risk with pragmatic commercial outcomes.

  • Experience in privacy, records management, risk, compliance, governance or a related control function.
  • A strong understanding of privacy legislation and principles, with the ability to apply regulatory requirements in a practical business context.
  • Experience designing, improving or operationalising frameworks, processes, controls or operating models at scale.
  • A systems-thinking mindset, with a natural curiosity for identifying opportunities to simplify, automate and continuously improve how work gets done.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and critical thinking skills, with the confidence to provide advice, challenge and influence at all levels.

Experience in financial services, insurance, superannuation, consulting, legal or another large and complex organisation will be highly regarded, as will exposure to data, technology, cyber or information governance environments. Experience supporting regulatory change, risk assessments or enterprise-wide transformation initiatives would be advantageous.
