Data Protection Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse emerging data protection legislative and regulatory developments, industry trends and best practices, and provide expert recommendations to ensure that policies, procedures, systems and processes remain compliant and aligned with regulatory expectations.
  • Lead and conduct comprehensive data protection compliance reviews and assessments across SWAN, evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies, procedures, controls, identify areas for improvement, and prepare detailed reports with practical recommendations for higher management.
  • Drive the planning, implementation, monitoring and successful delivery of data protection initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide expert guidance and advisory support to business units and management on complex data protection matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal requirements.
  • Act as a key point of contact for data protection matters and support the Data Protection Officer in managing relationships with regulatory authorities, coordinating inspections, audits, investigations and regulatory enquiries.
  • Lead and oversee data protection impact assessments and privacy by design exercises for new products, services, systems, technologies and business processes involving personal data.
  • Monitor and assess data protection risks across SWAN, recommend appropriate mitigation measures, and support the implementation of effective privacy controls and governance mechanisms.
  • Investigate and manage data protection incidents and personal data breaches, coordinate response activities, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure appropriate reporting, remediation and lessons learned exercises.
  • Develop, deliver and enhance data protection training, awareness programmes and guidance materials to strengthen privacy awareness and accountability across SWAN.
  • Prepare management reports on data protection compliance, risk exposures, key performance indicators and regulatory developments for senior management and Board of Directors.
  • Support the Data Protection Officer in the development and execution of SWAN’S data protection strategy, roadmap and governance framework.
  • Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned in line with business and regulatory requirements.

Compliance Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, implementation and review of Compliance policies, procedures, systems and processes. 
  • Keep abreast of new legislative and regulatory developments, industry best practices and ensure that policies, procedures, systems and processes are kept up to date accordingly. 
  • Undertake regular compliance audits and reviews to assess compliance with laws and regulations and internal policies & procedures and prepare compliance review reports. 
  • Assist in responding to queries promptly and provide advice on compliance matters to ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Undertake compliance risk assessments, develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Help in the preparation of compliance reports on regulatory matters for submission to Senior Management and Board of Directors both on a regular and ad-hoc basis.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of trainings and awareness programmes.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader/Manager in the smooth running of regulatory inspections and independent audits.
  • Assist in addressing data protection issues and provide guidance to employees in ensuring compliance with data protection laws and regulations.
  • Lead the planning and execution of compliance projects to ensure successful implementation.
  • Supervise the work of compliance employees falling under your responsibility and provide them with continuous support and guidance.
  • Provide support to and work in close collaboration with the Compliance Team Leader/Manager to assist them in the discharge of day-to-day duties and achieving compliance objectives.
  • Assist the Team Leader/Manager in fostering a compliance and ethical conduct throughout SWAN.
  • Perform any other cognate duties aligned to business requirements.

 

Candidate’s Profile

  • University degree and/or professional qualification in Finance or Law or Management or any other related field
  • Have at least 5 years’ working experience in a similar position
  • Have an excellent command of English and French, both written and spoken
  • Have effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have good time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Be an excellent team player
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Use discretion regarding confidential material and adhere to the code of ethics
