Salary range:
$129,464 - $142,665 + super

This role sits within the P&C Policy & Privacy Practice of the People & Culture's People Services directorate.

 About the team:

The P&C Policy and Privacy Practice plays a critical role in supporting People & Culture's compliance with NSW privacy legislation and the DCS Privacy Management Plan.

 We work with all directorates across People & Culture to enable the Group's activities and functions while ensuring that our employee's personal and health information is managed in line with privacy-by-design and best practice governance frameworks.

 Your day-to-day

  •  Provide expert and strategic privacy advice to senior stakeholders to inform decision making and mitigate privacy risks
  •  Lead and deliver Privacy Impact Assessments for complex initiatives, systems and projects
  •  Support and coordinate privacy incident and data breach response, ensuring legislative compliance and timely resolution.
  •  Develop and maintain privacy policies, procedures and governance processes to support best practice.
  •  Deliver education and capability uplift initiatives to improve P&C staff understanding of privacy obligations.
  •  Maintain reporting, including data breach registers and executive reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  •  Build trusted relationships with stakeholders and influence outcomes in a complex regulatory environment.
  •  Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation in privacy practices.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  •  Strong experience interpreting and applying privacy legislation (eg PPIPA, HRIPA) in the NSW public sector.
  •  Experience managing privacy incidents, data breaches and governance frameworks.
  •  Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills across senior levels.
  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to solve complex problems and delivery practical solutions.
  •  Experience delivery projects, initiatives or reforms in policy, governance or compliance environments.
  • Highly developed communication skills, including translating complex technical information for diverse audiences.
