The Data Protection function focuses on safeguarding sensitive data across research, trading, and corporate environments. The team works closely with Quantitative Researchers, Traders, and engineering teams to ensure data is handled securely throughout its lifecycle, while maintaining usability and performance.

Your Future Role within QRT
You will:

  • Design, implement, and operate data protection and security controls to safeguard critical information assets
  • Define and enforce data protection policies, including data handling standards and supporting tooling
  • Assess existing controls, identify gaps, and implement risk-based improvements
  • Improve operational processes through automation, playbooks, and standardisation
  • Monitor data security events, perform threat analysis, and lead remediation activities
  • Respond to incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with engineering and business teams to ensure controls remain effective and aligned with evolving systems
  • Maintain documentation and support day-to-day security operations
  • Promote data protection practices through guidance and awareness initiatives
  • Track developments in threats, technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to data security

Your Present Skillset

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks, risk management, and data protection principles
  • Experience with data protection technologies, SIEM platforms, endpoint security, and network security controls
  • Ability to analyse security events and lead incident response and remediation
  • Proficiency in scripting for security automation (e.g. Python, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Experience with cloud security practices (e.g. AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Ability to define and improve operational processes and procedures
  • Strong communication skills, able to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Awareness of current cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends
