The Role: Director, Privacy by Design & Records Governance - Mobility

This position reports directly to the Head of Privacy, Data & AI, who reports to the Chief Risk, Compliance and Privacy Officer of Mobility.

Responsibilities and Impact: The Director, Privacy by Design & Records Governance is a senior data protection and privacy leader responsible for data minimization, storage limitation, and records management approach, program and controls design, and guidance, supporting a business of approximately $1.8 billion in revenue and approximately 3,500 employees worldwide.

The Director, Privacy by Design & Records Governance partners closely with business leaders and stakeholders across the company to build effective controls and programs for records governance and privacy by design and drives:

  • Reduced regulatory, audit, and litigation risk through defensible privacy and retention controls;

  • Responsible use of information and records to support growth, innovation, and product delivery;

  • Lower data storage and operational costs by driving minimization and defensible disposal of records and data;

  • Scalable, integrated privacy and data protection compliance; and

  • Actionable requirements for technical, product and information security teams based on legal advice and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

•          Privacy by Design.

  • Designs guidance and approach for Privacy by Design.

  • Establishes guidance for Privacy by Design and Privacy Engineering standards for technology teams, including guidance that enables compliant product development without slowing product delivery.

  • Leads cross-functional programs and projects with Technology, Product, Risk, Legal, and Operations to implement privacy, Privacy by Design, retention, and data lifecycle controls.

•          Data Minimization & Records Governance

  • Drives data minimization and defensible disposal of records across corporate systems, digital and physical repositories, and products to reduce cost, complexity, and regulatory exposure.

  • Owns Information Governance policies and the Global Records Retention Schedule, ensuring they support business needs while meeting regulatory expectations.

  • Reduces regulatory, audit, and litigation risk through defensible privacy and retention controls.

  • Lower data storage and operational costs by driving minimization and defensible disposal of records and data.

  • Strategic Analysis of Privacy and Risk Assessments

  • Performs strategic analysis across DPIAs, PIAs, and risk and data mapping assessments to identify systemic risk, prioritize remediation, and shape privacy, retention, and minimization programs.

  • Defines and oversees the operationalization of foundational privacy processes and tooling (e.g. DPIAs, data mapping, OneTrust).

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in data privacy and protection in complex, regulated, or technology-enabled organizations

  • Bachelor's degree or higher and privacy certifications (e.g. IAPP) preferred

  • Demonstrated experience building or maturing privacy by design and records governance frameworks and programs

  • Experience advising leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on privacy by design and records governance matters

  • Prior experience with privacy tools, data analytics for privacy monitoring or modern privacy platforms

  • Proven capability to manage high-volume, complex environments with sound judgment and adaptability. Fosters inclusivity and manages emotions to achieve optimal business outcomes. Able to effectively pivot direction and collaborate across teams to meet strategic initiatives

  • Exceptional business judgment and strong problem-solving abilities. Adept at articulating business needs and defining actionable strategies. Actively seeks input from diverse sources to ensure engagement and influence stakeholder buy-in at all levels

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated passion for the business

  • Operates autonomously while also being a collaborative team player who brings a positive, "can do" attitude to the workplace. Works effectively with other members of the Compliance, Risk and Privacy team, internal clients, and cross-functional organizations to influence and develop strategic initiatives

  • Ability to work independently as an individual contributor while building toward team leadership
