Material Bank is seeking a senior Privacy & Product Counsel to join its Legal team as the company’s second lawyer. As the world’s largest material marketplace for the architecture and design industry, Material Bank operates in 37 countries and serves as the standard for design professionals worldwide.
This is a high-impact, builder’s role with significant ownership and visibility across the organization. The Privacy & Product Counsel will advise on a broad range of legal matters at the intersection of product, data, privacy, marketing, and commercial partnerships. The role partners closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, People, and other teams to enable rapid business growth while managing legal and regulatory risk.
Key responsibilities include leading Material Bank’s data privacy strategy and compliance efforts (including CCPA, GDPR, and emerging privacy regimes), advising on product development and user agreements, supporting incident response, and guiding marketing on consumer protection and advertising requirements. The role also involves drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, building legal operations infrastructure, and leveraging AI and legal technology to scale the legal function.
The ideal candidate brings a JD from an accredited law school, active bar membership, and at least 5 years of relevant legal experience, including in-house work at a high-growth technology company. Strong expertise in data privacy, product counseling, marketing/consumer protection, and commercial contracts is essential. The role requires sound legal judgment, adaptability, and a practical, business-oriented mindset.
