Job Description
Responsible for supporting, servicing, maintaining, and improving U.S. Bank enterprise infrastructure technologies across storage, data protection, and virtual machine platforms. This role provides production support for critical infrastructure services, including incident response, service request fulfillment, change execution, monitoring, troubleshooting, vendor coordination, automation enablement, and operational documentation.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with storage, backup, and virtual infrastructure operations in a large enterprise environment and can work effectively across technical teams, application owners, vendors, and leadership to maintain service availability, reduce risk, and improve operational efficiency.
Role Overview
The preferred candidate will bring experience across one or more of the following areas: VMware virtual infrastructure, SAN/NAS storage, enterprise backup and recovery, data center operations, hardware infrastructure support, ServiceNow ticketing and reporting, and automation-enabled operational workflows.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day production support for enterprise storage, backup, and virtual infrastructure platforms.
• Troubleshoot, triage, and resolve incidents, alerts, service interruptions, and performance issues across supported infrastructure services.
• Execute approved standard and normal changes in accordance with documented procedures, risk controls, maintenance windows, and change management requirements.
• Fulfill ServiceNow catalog requests and operational tasks for storage, backup, and virtual infrastructure services.
• Perform system health checks, log review, backup validation, capacity review, and service-impact analysis as needed to maintain platform stability.
• Support hardware-related activities, including infrastructure maintenance, vendor dispatch coordination, remote access facilitation, and validation of completed work.
• Collaborate with L2/L3 engineering teams, application owners, vendors, data center teams, security partners, and business stakeholders to resolve issues and complete approved work.
• Identify opportunities to shift repeatable work into standardized procedures, knowledge articles, reporting, or automation.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and professional ticket updates, work notes, task outcomes, and escalation details in ServiceNow.
• Contribute to operational documentation, SOPs, KB articles, runbooks, handoff notes, and cross-training materials.
• Participate in a 24/7 operational support model, including after-hours support, shift handoff, escalation coverage, or on-call rotation as required.
Preferred Skills and Experience
• Five or more years of experience supporting, maintaining, or servicing infrastructure technologies such as storage, backup, virtualization, server, or data center platforms.
• Three or more years of experience in a production data center or enterprise operations environment.
• Experience working incidents, tasks, requests, and changes in an ITSM platform such as ServiceNow.
• Experience following documented operational procedures, change controls, security standards, and audit/compliance expectations.
Virtual Infrastructure
• Working knowledge of VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, SRM, NSX-T, and VMware operations tools such as vROps or VMware Aria Operations.
• Experience with VM lifecycle activity, resource changes, snapshots, datastore validation, cluster health, host maintenance mode, and VM migration or vMotion support.
• Familiarity with Dell and Cisco hardware infrastructure, including Dell OME and Cisco UCS platforms.
Storage and Data Protection
• Working knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies, including enterprise storage, capacity, performance, provisioning, and recovery concepts.
• Experience with platforms such as Dell PowerMax, VMAX, Unity, Isilon/PowerScale, ECS, Pure Storage, NetApp, Brocade, Data Domain, and Cohesity.
• Understanding of backup job monitoring, restore support, replication, disaster recovery exercises, and storage health validation.
• Experience coordinating with vendors for hardware break/fix, log collection, remote troubleshooting, and service restoration.
Operations, Automation, and Governance
• Strong understanding of incident, problem, change, request, and escalation management processes.
• Working knowledge of ServiceNow ticketing, reporting, dashboards, catalog tasks, change tasks, and operational metrics.
• Experience with monitoring, alert triage, event correlation, log review, and health-check processes.
• Familiarity with automation tools or concepts such as Ansible/AWX, PowerCLI, scripting, ServiceNow Flow Designer, platform integrations, and repeat-task reduction.
• Knowledge of IT standards, security expectations, access controls, audit requirements, and risk-aware infrastructure operations.

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $105,400.00 - $124,000.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
