What you'll do:

As Vice President, Global Data Privacy Programme Manager at MUFG in London, your day-to-day responsibilities will centre around executing global privacy strategies that underpin MUFG’s commitment to trusted financial services. You will coordinate programme delivery across regions while maintaining control frameworks that support compliance with evolving regulations. Your role involves deploying robust policies for safeguarding sensitive information; facilitating secure handling of personal data; developing frameworks for breach reporting; conducting vendor risk assessments; tracking legal developments; providing advisory services; monitoring risk; escalating issues as needed; delivering training; supporting budget management; overseeing quality assurance efforts; responding to audit reviews; analysing programme metrics; preparing reports for senior leaders; liaising with colleagues globally; responding to information requests from regulators or internal audit teams; supporting both Bank and Securities entities neutrally; escalating conflicts of interest where necessary. Success in this role requires you to foster collaborative relationships across departments—Compliance, HR, Legal—and drive continuous improvement in privacy governance practices.

  • Lead the execution of global privacy strategies while coordinating regional programme delivery to ensure consistent adherence to local and international regulations.

  • Oversee the deployment and standardisation of data protection policies and procedures designed to safeguard sensitive information across all MUFG entities.

  • Facilitate secure handling of personal data, financial records, and proprietary information by collaborating with teams throughout the organisation.

  • Develop and maintain frameworks for personal data management including registers, breach reporting protocols, data transfers, vendor risk assessments, privacy assessments, legal developments tracking, advisory services, monitoring activities, risk reporting, and escalation processes.

  • Monitor for potential breaches and consult on responses to regulatory inquiries to protect MUFG’s reputation and client interests.

  • Advise senior leadership on emerging privacy risks and regulatory trends while developing and delivering comprehensive global privacy training programmes.

  • Support management of privacy budgets, resource allocation decisions, and vendor relationships to optimise programme effectiveness.

  • Conduct quality assurance reviews for privacy controls related to the Global Data Privacy framework ensuring continuous improvement.

  • Respond proactively to Audit requests and internal testing reviews by managing issues effectively and ensuring timely remediation.

  • Analyse privacy programme metrics periodically and prepare detailed reports for senior compliance leadership while facilitating liaison among global data privacy colleagues.

What you bring:

To excel as Vice President, Global Data Privacy Programme Manager at MUFG you will bring significant experience from compliance or legal roles—ideally within financial services or other regulated sectors—where you have developed deep familiarity with global privacy laws. Your background includes leading cross-functional programmes focused on risk assessment and regulatory interpretation. You are adept at applying practical knowledge of privacy-enhancing technologies while demonstrating strong organisational skills. Your collaborative nature ensures you consider stakeholder perspectives when designing compliance solutions. You have supported investigations within matrix organisations before. Essential qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) plus CIPP certification. Your excellent communication abilities complement your meticulous recordkeeping style.   • In-depth knowledge of global privacy laws and regulatory frameworks gained through extensive experience in compliance or legal roles within financial services or regulated industries.

  • Demonstrated ability leading cross-functional privacy programmes with proven expertise in risk assessment, regulatory interpretation, compliance reporting, and project coordination.

  • Practical understanding of privacy-enhancing technologies coupled with strong analytical skills enabling you to anticipate evolving business needs and adjust priorities accordingly.

  • Collaborative approach that considers stakeholder input when making strategic decisions about compliance solutions while maintaining customer service orientation.

  • Experience supporting or conducting compliance or employee-related investigations within matrix reporting organisations.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience along with Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or similar certification as essential qualifications.

  • Excellent communication skills combined with attention to detail and disciplined recordkeeping habits that ensure accuracy in all aspects of your work.

  • Structured approach to tasks with sound judgement applied in complex or sensitive matters—escalating appropriately when required.
