  • Parramatta office location and flexible working supported
  • TRP starting from $225,628 including superannuation, commensurate with experience

This is an internal Expression of Interest opportunity to join the Governance team for a 7-month temporary assignment as Director Information Management and Privacy.

The Opportunity:

This is a pivotal senior executive leadership role responsible for shaping and driving the Department’s information management, privacy and records strategy across a complex and high-profile portfolio. As Director, you will lead the development and implementation of contemporary, fit-for-purpose frameworks that ensure compliance with the GIPA Act, Privacy legislation and State Records Act, while enabling transparency, accountability and informed decision-making. You will act as the Department’s senior authority for information governance, providing trusted, strategic advice to executives on sensitive, high-risk and often high-visibility matters.

Leading a specialist team, you will influence culture and capability uplift across the organisation—driving better understanding of information access, privacy obligations and records management in a dynamic and politically sensitive environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to modernise systems, strengthen governance practices and deliver innovative solutions that improve how information is managed, accessed and protected to support better outcomes for the people of NSW.

About You:

You are an accomplished senior leader with deep expertise in information management, privacy and records governance within a complex regulatory environment. You bring a strong working knowledge of relevant NSW legislation and demonstrate sound judgement in navigating complex, sensitive and contentious matters. A strategic thinker, you are able to analyse risk, anticipate emerging issues and deliver practical, innovative solutions that balance compliance with organisational needs.

You are highly credible and influential, with the ability to engage and partner with senior stakeholders to shape decisions and drive outcomes. Your leadership style fosters integrity, collaboration and accountability, and you have a proven track record in leading high-performing teams through change. You communicate with clarity and authority, negotiate effectively in complex environments, and are motivated by delivering public value through strong governance, transparency and continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements:

Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or extensive relevant work experience.
