JOB SUMMARY:
The Office of General Counsel is responsible for overseeing all elements of the Firm's privacy compliance program. This program includes the Firm's privacy policies, notices, records of processing, impact assessments, transfer agreements, data processing agreements, data subject access requests and all other matters related to complying with applicable privacy and data security laws.
The Director, AI Governance & Risk will play a key role in maturing, implementing, and overseeing Simpson Thacher’s AI governance framework, policies and controls to ensure responsible, ethical, secure and compliant use of artificial intelligence. This role will report to the Chief Risk Officer and will be part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on accelerating the adoption of appropriate AI tools and technologies across the Firm.
The Director will bridge legal, risk, compliance, technology & business teams to manage AI-related risks across the full AI lifecycle – from ideation and development to deployment and monitoring.
As a senior leader, the Director will lead Firm-wide AI governance initiatives, align AI practices with regulatory requirements and industry standards, and serve as a key advisor to Partners and Senior Leadership on AI risk, ethics and controls.

Salary Information
NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $325,000 to $375,000 at the time of posting.
The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
