We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Data Privacy Manager.

 

Data and Analytics is an important enabler for the UK Business’ strategy and in achieving its’ outcomes. This role sits within the UK Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) function. The UK CDAO function is responsible for data risk and control management, delivering the data platform strategy, data and analytics products and AI for the UK Business.

 

In this fantastic new role, you will be accountable for DataVisa cases in UK Business, minimising work duplication across GBGFs, and expediting business-sponsored programmes, therefore relevant experience is essential. This role focuses on mitigating risks related to customer data breaches and other privacy concerns, ensuring compliance with Global Data Management Policies, ultimately enhancing customer trust and the value of data.

 

Join the Data Privacy team within UK Business, supporting HSBC’s delivery of mandatory data privacy controls (including Internal/External Data Transfers, Privacy Impact Assessments and Records of Processing). You’ll help streamline data privacy operations, reduce duplication and support faster delivery of business-sponsored programmes—while strengthening compliance with Global Data Management Policies and reducing customer data breach and privacy risk.

In this role you will:

 

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for DataVisa, guiding users across the UK Business to complete cases accurately and in line with required controls.
  • Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments and privacy reviews of operational processes, identifying risks and supporting proportionate mitigations.
  • Partner with Project Managers and delivery teams to embed privacy requirements into programmes and change activity.
  • Develop and maintain user guidance, training and educational materials to improve quality, consistency and efficiency of submissions.
  • Act as a data privacy SME, collaborating with Legal, Data Privacy and Regulatory Compliance to support interpretation and communication of policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor relevant legislative and regulatory developments, perform gap analysis where required, and support remediation planning and risk reporting.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities in local practices and operational processes to improve time to market and reduce rework.

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

  • Experience in a Privacy Office, working with Data Privacy Officers, and/or in a risk, control or governance role.
  • Working knowledge of privacy regulations (e.g. UK GDPR, PECR).
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across business, Risk and Legal.
  • Proven ability to identify, assess and prioritise data privacy risks and communicate recommendations clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset and ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
