 Help shape the future of data and AI governance in banking. 

As our highly valued Data and AI Governance Specialist, you'll play a key role in helping Great Southern Bank build trusted, well-governed data and responsible AI capabilities that support better customer outcomes, stronger risk management and smarter business decisions. 

Working within our Enterprise Data team, you'll partner with stakeholders across Technology, Risk, Privacy and the business to embed governance practices, uplift data management capability and support the Bank's evolving AI governance framework.

You'll make an impact by: 

  • Developing and embedding data governance policies, standards and best practices across the Bank.  
  • Supporting the implementation and continual improvement of our AI Governance Framework.  
  • Partnering with Data Owners and Data Stewards to strengthen data quality, ownership and accountability.  
  • Identifying and assessing data and AI risks while ensuring compliance with regulatory and privacy obligations.  
  • Supporting governance forums, reporting and critical data element management.  
  • Providing guidance and education to build data and AI governance capability across the organisation.  
  • Working collaboratively across Technology, Risk, Privacy, Compliance and business teams to improve data management outcomes.  
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen the Bank's data culture and governance maturity.

You'll work across a wide range of business areas, influence strategic initiatives and help establish responsible AI governance as the Bank continues to evolve its digital capabilities. To succeed in this role, you'll have: 

  • Experience in data governance, data management, information management or a similar specialist role.  
  • Strong understanding of the data management lifecycle and governance principles.  
  • Experience with data governance tools, reporting and data quality initiatives.  
  • Working knowledge of Excel, SQL and Power BI or similar analytical tools.  
  • Knowledge of Australian regulatory requirements relating to data, privacy, AI and risk within financial services.  
  • Understanding of industry frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, ISO or similar governance standards.  
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence across technical and business teams.  
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.  
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Information Management, IT or a related discipline. A DAMA CDMP certification will be highly regarded.
