Compliance & Privacy Officer

This Is What Your Role Looks Like

We are looking for a hands-on, business-minded Compliance & Privacy Officer who wants to make a real difference at a fast-growing, listed company. At Basic-Fit, you'll act as a trusted advisor to management combining legal insight with a pragmatic mindset to guide the business on topics like GDPR, AI governance, whistleblowing and fraud integrity. This is a role for someone who goes beyond box-ticking and knows how to turn complex compliance topics into practical, workable solutions.

Your Responsibilities

• Compliance Management: Maintain and continuously improve the Compliance Management System, aligned with ISO 37301, and identify non-compliance risks across the organisation.
• Advising the Business: Act as a trusted advisor to management on the compliance implications of new initiatives, technologies and ways of working covering topics such as GDPR, camera surveillance, AI governance, whistleblowing, and fraud and integrity risks.
• Risk Assessments: Perform and support DPIAs, AI Impact Assessments and integrity/fraud risk assessments, and translate outcomes into practical mitigating measures.
• Policy & Awareness: Draft, maintain and update compliance policies and procedures, create content for annual e-learning and awareness training, and actively promote a culture of compliance across the organisation.
• Reporting: Prepare the annual Compliance Plan and deliver quarterly compliance reporting to management and the DPO.

Who Are You?

You are a pragmatic compliance professional who knows how to balance regulatory requirements with business reality. You don't see compliance as a barrier; you see it as a way to build trust and enable sustainable growth. You are confident working independently, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels, and capable of explaining complex topics in plain language.

Additionally, we're looking for someone who has:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law or a related field
• 4–8 years of experience in enterprise compliance and/or privacy risk management, preferably in an international, listed or commercial environment
• A strong working knowledge of GDPR in practice; experience with camera surveillance regulations is a plus
• Experience with risk assessments, policy frameworks and internal governance structures
• The ability to influence and drive change without formal authority
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly to different audiences (from operations to the board)
• Sound judgment and sharp prioritisation skills: you know when to escalate and when a practical solution is enough
• Fluency in English; additional European languages are a plus
