SmartHome stove saves each family we reach about 9% of their annual income while reducing air pollution. 

UpEnergy has a 10+ year track record of building platforms and projects that rigorously measure the 
environmental and social impacts of our work. Our projects have historically outperformed expectations in 
the generation of emission reductions and further over deliver on the energy savings promise to our users. 
We are one of the largest developers by volume of projects focused on poverty alleviation through energy 
savings and fuel switching in Africa and have additional projects in Latin America and Asia. Our team has a 
collective 50 years of experience developing and financing carbon projects and is at the forefront of Paris
era climate finance. 

About the role: 
UpEnergy is at a time of exciting growth, expanding both in terms of product and geographic portfolio. In 
the context of our expansion in the Ghana market, we are looking for an experienced Carbon & Data 
Officer who is passionate about our mission and motivated by the challenge to help UpEnergy met targets 
in a new key market. The role is central to ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of project data 
across our clean energy and carbon credit programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for in
country data activities, ensuring datasets are compliant with international carbon crediting standards, and 
supporting operational delivery of our projects. 

The Carbon & Data Officer will also contribute to analysis, reporting, and quality control processes, while 
helping to strengthen institutional capacity and support business growth in Ghana. 
This role is ideal for a highly organized, analytical professional with experience in data management, 
quality assurance, and actively participate in key operational projects to advance UpEnergy’s business in 
Ghana. 


This role will report to the Carbon Operations Manager. The role is fulltime and based out of UpEnergy 
office in Accra, Ghana.  

Key Responsibilities: 
Data Management & Quality Control 

  •  Reconcile distribution and project datasets on a daily and weekly basis to ensure accuracy and 
    completeness.
  •  Perform quality control (QC) checks to validate compliance of sales, distribution, and monitoring 
    data with carbon program requirements.
  •  Extract, clean, and verify data from primary and secondary sources, ensuring datasets meet audit 
    standards.
  •  Maintain data integrity and prepare QC reports for internal teams and carbon stakeholders. 
  •  Manage and track issuance of project tools and records (devices, survey forms etc). 
    Carbon Project Compliance & Reporting
  •  Support the carbon verification team with data inputs for project verification and validation audits.
  • Prepare regular (weekly/monthly) compliance reports for internal teams, auditors, and carbon 
    partners.
  •  Work with the Carbon Operations Manager to ensure data governance policies are implemented and 
    followed.
  • Contribute to reporting templates and tools to support international certification (e.g., Gold 
    Standard, VCS). 


    Analysis & Insights
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret project data to generate insights that inform business decisions. 
  •  Provide customized reports and dashboards for management and global carbon teams.
  •  Project KPIs, ensuring timely reporting of progress and impact. 

    Operational Support 
  •  Provide day-to-day support to project and carbon operations teams. 
  • Liaise with field teams, sales teams, and call-back support for reconciliation and QC. 
  •  Assist in training staff and field enumerators on data collection and reporting tools. 
  • Support monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities, ensuring alignment with project requirements. 

    Must Have
  • Relevant Degree
  • 2+ years of experience in research, data management and climate change related projects
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills would be a plus
  • Experience in survey development and data management (familiar with Tableau, CarbonHQ,   
    Survey CTO, ODK, among other mobile data collection platforms)  
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Nice to Have 

  • Familiarity with the development of energy or carbon projects.
  • An understanding of clean energy products, especially cookstoves and water purifiers and its distribution model.
  • Familiarity with local language and Business culture
