What we do at Weir
We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.

Make your impact
You’ll play a key role in solving real-world challenges. You’ll apply your skills to deliver results that matter whether that’s through engineering, planning or customer support. You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.

What you’ll do

• AI Governance Framework & Operating Model: Maintain and continuously improve the enterprise AI Governance Framework by developing policies, standards, procedures, and control requirements. Define and embed governance roles, responsibilities, and accountability structures. Support governance forums such as AI Control Boards and Risk Committees to ensure alignment with Data Governance, Privacy, Security, and Risk Management frameworks.

• AI Risk Management & Assurance: Lead AI risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation activities throughout the AI lifecycle. Manage risk assessments and governance reviews, establish risk-based controls for transparency, fairness, security, and accountability, and coordinate assurance reviews and audits. Success means robust risk controls and audit-ready governance documentation.

• Regulatory Compliance & Responsible AI: Monitor emerging AI regulations including the EU AI Act, support organizational compliance, coordinate regulatory readiness, and embed responsible AI principles into business operations. Daily activities include partnering with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and Cyber Security teams to assess governance and regulatory risks.

• AI Use Case Governance: Operate and improve AI use case intake, approval, and monitoring processes. Review AI solutions to ensure appropriate governance controls, classify AI risks, and facilitate escalation for high-risk initiatives. Travel may be required occasionally to support governance forums or stakeholder engagement.

• Data Governance & Privacy Integration: Collaborate closely with Data Governance and Privacy teams to ensure AI data quality, ownership, lineage, and retention requirements are met. Align AI governance controls with broader enterprise governance frameworks.

• Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Develop governance metrics, KPIs, and management reporting on AI adoption, risk, and compliance. Maintain dashboards for leadership and recommend governance improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.

• Training, Culture & Change Enablement: Promote Responsible AI awareness, support role-based training development, and foster a culture of responsible innovation, transparency, and accountability across the organization.

• Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviours in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
